The Oostburg School District is honored to announce that Jodi Hilbelink has been selected for the inaugural Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education Award. In addition to Jodi's selection, we are also pleased to announce that Nancy DeJong, Curt Bretall, Deanna Karrels, Brittany DeTroye, Ashley Holzer, and Kevin Bruggink were all finalists selected from a group of 560 overall nominations. Congrats to Jodi and each OSD finalist and thank you to those who nominated our staff members. Twenty-seven school districts partnered with WFRV Channel 5 News in Green Bay to recognize exceptional school employees in a new program called the “Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education" awards. This program allowed parents, students, community members, and staff to nominate deserving school employees in the following categories: ▪️Innovation in work - How has the employee demonstrated innovation in his/her work area? ▪️Culture creator in the work environment - How has the employee gone above and beyond in creating a positive school culture? ▪️Social/emotional well-being - How has the employee impacted the social/emotional well being of students and/or the school environment? ▪️Community involvement - How has the employee positively impacted the community? ▪️Student connection - In what ways has the employee built positive relationships with students? The judges will then select the award recipients in each of the five categories. The awards show ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Kiel Area School District Performing Arts Center. The program will be live streamed on Channel 5’s, WeAreGreenBay.com website. #BoostTheOost

We are grateful that Mr. Mike Ansay, President of the B. Bruce Krier Foundation, was able to join us for our March 19th building dedication! Mr. Krier and Mr. Ansay were close friends since childhood, so it was particularly fitting to have Mike cut the ribbon for our new Performing Arts Center. We are honored to have our PAC named after someone who continues to leave a positive legacy at OSD through annual scholarships, grant support, and now the naming of our theater. #BoostTheOost

It was extra special to have OSD class of '72 alum, Harlan TenPas and his wife Sandy joining us for the dedication of our building project. ❣️ The TenPas’ gift honored Mr. Herb Kohler along with OHS teachers Larry Navis, John Kobelsky, and Kathy Schroeder. Their gift provided primary funding to complete our school store, The Shoe Box. Thank you! #BoostTheOost

Second semester in Art 3D means all clay, all the time! For this particular project titled Monumental Tiles, students were asked to choose a monument or landmark from around the world and sculpt it in low relief. To sculpt in low relief is to carve/take away material in the smallest increments possible to still create a 3-dimensional object. Both students here are working on a singular piece of clay- no building required! Crystal is working on the Blue Dome Church in Santorini, Greece and Nathan is working on the Tokyo Tower in Tokyo, Japan. Look at that focus! #BoostTheOost

Our high school students have been busy this year "connecting the dots!” Experiences drive our next steps in life and that is why we believe in the power of job shadows. OHS partners with Inspire Sheboygan County to help facilitate these opportunities. Three of our students recently had a wonderful hands-on experience with Arch Solar! Thank you for investing in our students! #LearnByDoing #CareerExploration #BoostTheOost
