Weekly OSD COVID Update:

We have good news to share on the COVID case count front!

Our Friday, January 22, 2021 quarantine numbers include 31 students or staff who are officially quarantined due to health department requirements. This is the lowest quarantine count we have had since October.)

Our overall case counts since September 1st include:
6 additional known positive cases since our last report to families.
30 staff positive cases (3 of these cases are not considered “school cases” as they did not include exposure which required contact tracing of students or staff.)
79 student positives (40 of these cases are not considered “school cases” as they did not include exposure which required contact tracing of students or staff.)

*Please remember that any student who is waiting for a test result or has a family member waiting for a test result is not allowed to attend school in person during that time.

We learned this week that K-12 educators are next in line for vaccination with some of our high exposure staff members already receiving their vaccination.

On an unrelated note we are excited to share that our in-person learning model has helped to completely close several learning gaps which showed up in our early fall assessments. We believe those gaps in learning were largely due to the requirement which prevented us from having in-person learning last spring. We appreciate the cooperation from so many of you which has contributed to allowing us to stay open for in-person learning throughout this school year. We have invested a lot in making our virtual learning experience as beneficial as possible, while recognizing that it falls short of in-person instruction.

Enjoy this day and enjoy your weekend!
