Good morning Parents,
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, and that you were able to enjoy the rather exceptional weather. I also hope the vast majority of our students are eager to be back at school and excited to see their friends and teachers. From our perspective, it is really nice to have students back in our hallways and classrooms. They certainly brought a significant rise in the energy level of the building this morning. We had many students arrive before 7:00 am today, and their energy is contagious. We all, regardless of our age, feel a bit of excitement in starting a new school year, and as a staff we are enjoying the start of what looks like a very good school year.
I will be meeting with each of the classes–Freshmen through Senior–in the next two days and the first thing I will do is introduce them to our new faculty members. It only makes sense, therefore, that I would also introduce our new teachers to parents as well. We are very proud of the quality of our faculty, and we believe the new additions to our staff will only make us better.
Isaiah Ketterhagen is our new social studies teacher, although he is not a new teacher by an means. Mr. Ketterhagen has been teaching for over 15 years and is replacing Mr. Carreno. He will be teaching US History, AP US History, and Social Problems.
Larry Ehrhorn is our new math teacher and he also comes to us with 7-8 years of experience. Mr. Ehrhorn is replacing Mr. Telschow and will be teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, Trig./Stats, and Computer Science.
Avery Kohrell is our new English teacher and she is a recent graduate of St. Norberts College. Ms. Kohrell is replacing Mrs. Nyenhuis but will be teaching English 10 and English 12 because Ms. Lutze (now Mrs. Roberts) has moved to English 9. Mrs. Nyenhuis has also moved to our Spanish department and will be teaching Spanish 1.
Please help us welcome these new teachers to the Oostburg High School faculty.
We hope your children get their school year off to a great start today, and the rest of the week. Please do not hesitate to call any of our staff or me if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions on how we can support your child. My phone number is 920-564-2346 x4001.
