High School Checkout Process and Times.

Good morning, Parents and Students.
I want to provide some information about how checkout will occur on June 5th for seniors, and June 8-10 for freshmen, sophomores and juniors.   Parents, please share this information with your high school age children.
First off, as we planned our approach, our top priority has been the safety of our staff and students.  We feel a real obligation to create a process that makes everyone as safe as possible.
Checkout for seniors is on Friday, June 5th from 8:00-2:00.  We plan to have two teams involved in the check out process so that seniors can come to either the front circle and be met by a team in the main lobby, or come to the cafeteria doors to be met by a team from the cafeteria.  We would like all seniors to check out on Friday, 6/5, even though some may keep their commencement gowns through the weekend.  Those that keep their gowns can simply return the gown on Monday and pick up their diploma.  If you are returning your gown on Monday, please do so via the cafeteria doors team.
On the subsequent 2 1/2 days of check out for freshmen, sophomores and juniors, we will use the same two teams and underclassmen (freshmen/sophomores) will check out via the front circle while juniors will check out by the cafeteria doors.  On June 8th and 9th, check out will run from 8:00-2:00, and on June 10th it will continue from 8:00-11:00 am.
Terri Hengst will be sending an email to each student/parent that will list what they need to return, or pay for, to complete the checkout process.  We will ask students to return the required materials in a plastic bag so that they can pull up to the curb, drop it on the sidewalk and a no contact exchange can be made.  The students will probably drop off their materials, pull up a short distance, and stay in their cars and wait for their belongings to be returned in the same manner.  While a no contact exchange may seem unnecessary, it does allow us to maintain social distancing and make everyone a bit more safe.
The collection team will send a teacher out to pick up the plastic bag and it will be delivered to that team’s check out members.  The team will check the returned materials against the list in our master check out document.  When the student is cleared, the same staff member that got the bag from the curbside will pick up all of that student’s belongings, and they will deliver them to the curb for another no contact exchange.
To make the process as efficient as possible, we will have staff members who are assigned to do curbside pick up and belongings drop off, other staff members to do the actual check in of materials, and teachers to get the students belongings–plastic bags in the gym with the stuff from their lockers and PE lockers, their schedules for next year or diplomas, etc.   The lobby team is bigger, of course, because that location will serve more students.  We have purposely over staffed each team because we want to have a process that can move very quickly even if a lot of students come for check out at similar times.  (We will not have scheduled times for HS checkout.  Any time during the day(s) scheduled for your class is fine.)
