On Friday, November 11th, Oostburg Elementary School payed homage to veterans with a short social gathering, school program, and luncheon. Almost 70 veterans from a variety of braches of service joined our students on this day to celebrate our freedom and the men and women who have protected our rights.
Led by our fifth grade staff and students, displays were created, speeches were made to honor our veterans, and a series of multi-media presentations were put together to show our communities gratitude for this invaluable service.
The event was truly a school affair, as the entire student body particpated in songs, third grade students made and passed out cards, and staff members and volunteers provided and served lunch.
“On this Veteran’s Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” —Dan Lipinski
