I’ve had the privilege of listening to many students read this week, and I’ve been so impressed with how far they’ve come since the beginning of the year. More importantly, they are excited about the hard work they’ve put into it and that their hard work has really paid off. This excitement fosters even more motivation, and the momentum is contagious. Thank you for all of the work you are doing at home to help us with this work in energizing our students around reading.
We have several opportunities to keep the momentum going, even in these warmer months. Next week, the Book Fair is opening. Please take advantage of this opportunity to shop for summer reading. Our students are working hard to reach the 100,000 minute reading mark so that they can throw water balloons at me. J The Book Fair will be open Monday- Friday 8-8:30 a.m., lunch time, and 3:30-6:00 p.m. Please come out to shop for the latest and greatest reads.
Summer School information was sent home last week with report cards and can also be found in Friday Folders. Summer school sessions are June 22-25, June 29-July 2 (Session 1) and August 10-13, August 17-20 (Session 2). In addition, Dutch Butch programming will be offered Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Dutch Bunch will provide planned activities such as art, cooking, organized games, and science projects. They have also planned field trips to the Green Bay Zoo, bowling, Wild Life Sanctuary, and more. The cost for Dutch Bunch is $22.00 for a full day and $11.00 for half days (5 hours or less). If you have any questions about Dutch Bunch please contact Regina Hartman at firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration forms are available in online Friday Folders.
For grades 3-5, information is coming home today regarding statewide Badger Testing. Badger Testing is replacing the WKCE testing in reading and math. Testing is scheduled for the mornings of April 28-30 and May 5-6. Please make sure your children get lots of rest, are on time to school, and please avoid pull outs for appointments during these dates. Results of testing will provide our school feedback regarding how our students are achieving in the areas of reading and math. Thank you for your help in getting our students ready to do their best on these tests.
Have a great weekend!
