Dear Parents,

Our superpower for the month of January is hope.  This has been a particularly good focus for these cold, middle of the school year weeks.  Students have been diligently bringing in their change to support the Pennies and Patients initiative.  In just a week, our students have collected over $800.00 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Our goal is to raise $2000.00 by the end of the month, and I’m confident we’ll be able to achieve this goal.  Thank you for giving others hope by supporting such an important cause.  You are also teaching your children the importance of playing a role in providing hope to others.

Although most students might be excited that today is Friday, I had one student greet me this morning sharing that he is excited that he gets to shop for books at Level L today.  He was so proud of his reading progress and eager to dive into reading books at a higher level.  We’ve seen this excitement all over the school this week as students are completing reading assessments to check on progress.  Thank you for supporting reading efforts at home.  We have seen time and time again that the more kids read, the more they LOVE to read.

Report cards will be going home in a couple of weeks.  Although we don’t have formal parent-teacher conferences scheduled, please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss your child’s progress.  Communication about learning is extremely important to us, and we invite you to partner with us in making sure we are meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of your child.

The buzz is in the air about the Fun Fair, just two weeks away.  Please get Friday, February 5 on your calendar to join us for a night of fun, games, and prizes.   It is one of the biggest social events of the year.  If you would like to volunteer to help on the night of the event, please let us know.  We always have room for more help.

Be sure to review the information on our website regarding the upcoming referendum on February 16.  Don’t forget the open house opportunity on February 1, 5:30-7:00 p.m.  Kevin and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have outside of these opportunities.

Have a great weekend!
