“Lights, camera, action!” Grade 3 students in Mrs. Puerzer’s classes dove into Writer’s Workshop in a whole new way! After spending time gathering facts about weather and natural disasters from books during Research Club, students synthesized their knowledge into short informational text summaries. Working in groups, they created a Google Slides presentation to showcase their subtopics and offer “highlights” of new knowledge. They also created scripts from their summaries which they used to narrate their slideshow. The Chromebook and its webcam in conjunction with the MoveNote app allowed them to make a recorded presentation to be shared internally with the class. The students enjoyed this multifaceted project and learned valuable research and presentation skills. Even though they were a little nervous about being “on camera”, they were thrilled with the outcome!
