Hello OSD Families,
We miss our students and hope you and your family are doing well. We would like to update families with several items related to our academic calendar for May and June. Please see specific details below:
May 8th – teacher inservice day (no student instruction)
May 22nd – teacher inservice day (no student instruction)
June 5th – teacher inservice day (no student instruction)
May 8th and June 5th are changes to what would have occurred had we been on site for instruction. Our transition to virtual learning eliminated early release time which is used for teacher collaboration and district-wide meetings. May 8th is now designated for that purpose with no student instruction, and June 5th will be our check-out day for seniors. Our high school team will communicate specifics around this as the date approaches.
June 8-10 will be K-11 student check-out days. We are planning for curbside delivery of student locker materials as well as acceptance of Chromebooks and other school items. Details related to this process will be provided as the date approaches, including the specific date and times when your student’s check-out will occur.
In summary, the final day of new instruction will be June 4th with the exception of Junior Kindergarten whose final day will be June 5th.
Please know that although school buildings remain closed, our focus on providing meaningful learning for students continues. Our staff is committed to learning with you as we adapt to a very different landscape. Thank you for partnering with us and supporting your children to the best of your abilities. To that end, we recognize each family’s reality is different, and we invite you to contact us with questions or concerns.
Kevin Bruggink, Superintendent
