We are very excited to introduce our new elementary school principal, Mr. Aaron White. Aaron was part of a large and talented, 81 candidate pool that applied to be our next principal. Our 15 member interview committee moved through an extensive process which included tours of our district, candidate visits to OES during our school day, multiple rounds of interviews and a thorough review of references. Through that process, our committee unanimously recommended that we extend a contract offer to Mr. White.
Mr. White has his Masters of Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch after attending UW-Madison for his undergraduate degree. He has has taught 3rd & 4th grade multi age as well as 4th & 5th grade levels in the Menomonee Falls School District. He has been a math specialist and instructional coach since 2013, having been selected for those positions in Menomonee Falls. Last year he was hand-picked by Menomonee Falls administration to be the math instructional coach for all elementary schools in their district, and was part of their administrative succession planning.
Included below are just a few of the strong references provided in support of Mr. White’s candidacy by his immediate supervisors:
- “He gives the same amount of respect to others no matter where they come from.”
- “His service orientation enhances his compassion for the needs of others and his courage to do the right thing”
- “He’s phenomenal… a great influence on kids.”
- “Like a talented ballplayer, who has the ability to make his teammates better, Aaron makes those around him better educators”
- “Aaron brings high character, sound judgment and a sharp intellect to any learning community.”
- “Aaron is a high character guy with a strong moral compass. Kids love him and you will not be disappointed.”
- “Aaron has strong trust with people and will roll up his sleeves to help people.”
Mr. White, his wife and three young children live in Port Washington, and he is looking forward to joining our staff. During his interview Aaron shared a transition plan draft which included “getting to know you” letters to parents, specific plans to meet our students during summer school, and a “Doughnuts with Dads / Muffins with Moms” series early in our school year. Our committee and school community is excited that Aaron chose to join us as we continue “Growing Together.”
I would like to publicly thank our interview and selection committee for the long nights and weekends they invested in making this important decision. Members of that committee included: Beth Rauwerdink (OES Parent & JK Teacher), Erin Hoffmann (OES Parent & 5th grade teacher), Ashley Holzer (OES guidance counselor & community member), Bryce DeRoos (OSD Director of Student Services), Faith Mentink (OES Parent & administrative assistant), Jessica Prinsen (OES 1st grade teacher & community member), Jill Davies (OES 3rd grade teacher & community member), Jodi Stubler (OES Parent and 2nd grade teacher), Julia Pearson (OES Music teacher), Karri Krier (OES Parent & 4th grade teacher), Kim Ramaker (OES Parent & 5K teacher), Lucas Allen (OES Parent & District IT Coordinator), Regina Hartman (OES Parent & Interventionist), Trevor Stultz (OES cross categorical teacher). These committee members volunteered well over 75 hours to our process, ensuring that we made the most informed decision possible. We appreciate their commitment to our school and community.
Mr. White will formally begin his new role on July 1, but will also be joining us as his schedule permits this spring. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Aaron White and his family to Oostburg!
Enjoy this day!
