‘Tis the Season for Giving!

As excitement is building and students are getting anxious for Christmas to finally arrive, there are opportunities all around us to teach them that giving is often more important than receiving.  Just about everywhere we go, there are red kettles, giving trees, and other reminders about the importance of giving to those that are less fortunate than we are.  With the spirit of giving in mind, OMS is partaking in a toy drive for children in foster care in Sheboygan County.  For some of these children, this may be the only toy they receive this holiday season.  This toy drive will run through December 17.  Please consider donating an unwrapped toy, book, or anything else an infant through teenager might enjoy this holiday season.  There is a wrapped bin in the OMS Cafeteria where toys can be left. Thank you to those that have already donated to this worthy cause!

Another opportunity for giving and getting is through our Annual Book Fair.  The OMS book fair starts tomorrow! We will launch the opening of the bookfair before the OMS Band and Choir concert on Monday, December 7.  The fair will be held in the hallway by the OHS cafeteria and will open at 5:30 p.m. and will remain open until after the concert.  The remainder of the week, the Book Fair will be open before school (7-7:20), during lunch, and after school (2:30-3:30) daily.

Through this annual fair, monies raised through the purchase of books and other trinkets earns the school credit to select books for use in our classrooms.  Therefore, by purchasing books through the OMS Book Fair, you are not only giving to your child or whomever the book may be for, but you are also giving back to OMS, the staff, and students. Therefore, please consider shopping at the Book Fair yourself as you consider your shopping list for the holidays (as books make for a PERFECT gift), or send money with your child so they can purchase a new book for themselves.

Lastly, as eluded to previously, the OMS Band and Choral concert is tomorrow night, December 7, at 7 pm in the OHS Gymnasium.  Please consider giving your time and attention to the OMS students that have been working diligently to show off their musical talents to you.  You won’t be disappointed that you came!

Have a great week,
