OMS Represented in Youth Honors Band

On January 17, the Wisconsin Youth Band Directors Association (WYBDA) had their  2017 Youth Honors Band concert at the Performing Arts Center in the Pewaukee School District. WYBDA is an organization for beginning and intermediate level band instructors from across the state of Wisconsin. The organization pulls together talented youth from across the state each year to rehearse and perform together on one stage. Students are nominated by their band instructor who helps them prepare for the day.

OMS band instructor, Dr. Jill Hanes, nominated 5 OMS students to represent us on this day. Seventh grader Sydney Steuerwald (Alto Saxophone), and 8th graders Kelsie Dulmes (Flute), Camryn Lund (Bassoon), Sabryn Bley (Clarinet), and Payton Navis (Clarinet) all played in the band with about 80 other middle school aged performers this day.  They played 5 different selections that were conducted by various band directors from Wisconsin middle schools. The concert concluded with the Youth Honors Band playing “On Wisconsin” with the Hartland Community Band.

Way to represent OMS ladies!  We are proud of you.
