Congratulations to the Oostburg Middle School ROV team who earned first place at the Wisconsin MATE underwater robotics competition! This event was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Science on Sunday, April 10th. Our team of 13 students competed against teams from around the state, such as Mequon-Thiensville, Wausau, University School, and Lake Shore School. They dominated the competition in all four scoring areas: pool phase, ten page technical report, poster board display, and team presentation.
The Oostburg ROV team runs as an after school club throughout the year and ends with the spring State level ROV competition. This is the third year that Oostburg has competed with the team at the middle school level. In 2014 the team scored 2nd place, in 2015 the team scored 1st place, and in 2016 the team scored 1st place. We are very proud of our creative, ambitious, skilled, and collaborative students!
