Parent Teacher Conferences next Monday and Tuesday from 3-7 pm.

Good afternoon, Parents.

Next week Monday and Tuesday, November 9th and 10th, from 3:00-7:00 pm, the high school faculty will be holding Parent Teacher Conferences.  As some of you know from experience, we generally have a light turnout of parents for conferences at the HS, so it is generally pretty easy and efficient in terms of time to visit your children’s teachers.  While we don’t make appointments like the MS or ES, we are available to meet with parents on a first come, first serve basis on these two evenings.
With the first quarter ending this Thursday, November 5th, we will be processing and sending hard copies of report cards to parents later next week, and unfortunately after Parent Teacher Conferences.  However, all parents can access your children’s quarter grades on Infinite Campus and we would encourage you to do so.  Furthermore, we would encourage all parents to consider coming to Parent Teacher Conferences, especially if you find your student is under performing in any class.  If you cannot come to Oostburg High School in person, we would encourage you to call the teacher(s) involved in any class your student is not doing as well as you believe they should be because this will give you an opportunity to gather information about your child’s progress and discuss how you can best work with the teacher and your child to address the situation and support better performance by your child going forward.  We will also ask our teachers to use any extra time they have during Parent Teacher Conferences to call the parents of students who may be struggling to connect with parents in an attempt to break the cycle of under performance as well.
We look forward to seeing all of you next week, but we also recognize that conferences can be most important when discussions between parents and teachers can position us better to support the success of students that may be struggling or just not doing as well as they should be in any class.  We are eager as a faculty to work with parents to better support your children in the learning process and to address circumstances that may be causing under performance issues.  Thanks in advance to all of the parents who take the time to see us, or call us, to discuss your children’s progress.  We highly value our partnerships with parents because we have learned from experience that working with parents is one of the best tools available in helping students succeed.
We hope to see you, or talk to you, next week Monday or Tuesday evening between 3-7 pm.
Thanks, Scott and the HS Faculty.
