OES students enjoyed some time twirling, gliding, balancing, and skating on the ice! Thanks to Mr. Herzog for putting together the Blue Line skating event. This opportunity is a nice way for some students to a experience a winter activity that they may not otherwise get to try. For others, it’s a good way to hone their skills! Thanks as well to our parent and high school student volunteers, and to the 1st-3rd grade teachers that got on the ice, with skates or boots, to help their students.

On February 7, fifth grade students dressed up and participated in games and activities typical of a child their age during the Colonial times in America. Students enjoyed playing dominoes, jacks, marbles, and pick up sticks, making candles, and creating crafts with stencils and embroidery. It was a nice opportunity to travel back in time! This gave some context to their current social studies unit on the Revolutionary War.

Most are likely aware that we are now (almost) moved into our building additions at Oostburg Elementary School. Student lunch in the window-filled multipurpose cafeteria, combined with our winter weather yesterday, made it feel like we were in a giant snow globe at OES!
We are excited to be able to show you our new space and hope you can join us for an open house on January 22nd. Administrators will be available from 3:45-6:30 p.m. to answer questions and show visitors around our newly completed spaces. There will also be a formal dedication and ribbon cutting with more limited space from 2:30-3:20 p.m. in the new cafeteria.
We are thankful for the community support which allowed this building addition to become reality. We are thankful to our staff for their patience and cooperation while this project was being completed, and we are excited to have facilities which will serve us in the decades ahead. We hope you are able to join us on January 22nd!
